The site is the creation of Julia Toivonen, a Queensland mother of a premature baby born at 27 weeks gestation. There are online forums, live chat rooms and facilities for creating a family blog. Additional special features include the premmie baby buddy option, which links two members for a month to offer one-on-one support and encouragement. BYOKidsWith information on theme parks, resort kids’ clubs, playgrounds, holiday parks and special deals on family holiday accommodation and activities, BYOKids is a must-visit website for Australian families planning a vacation. Australian and New Zealand locations feature predominantly, however some categories, particularly those with accommodation details, do contain international destinations. The site has a large number of articles with tips for travelling with children, organising holiday travel and accommodation, preparing for both domestic and international travel and other related topics. There are links to websites for booking travel and accommodation online and information on single parent trips and travelling with pets. Parent-WorldWith Australian and international administrators, Parent-World offers Australian and New Zealand mums relevant information as well as connecting them with mothers around the world. With several sections aimed at those who are trying to conceive, pregnant or with newborns, the site also has general family information, recipes, family organisation tips, book, movie and product reviews, forums, chat rooms, relationship tips and advice for mothers on how to relax and find “me” time. The forums cover a variety of parenting and personal topics and include sections specifically for Australian and New Zealand mums to connect with each other. Online Mothers Groups and SupportBusy lifestyles can make it difficult for mothers to find time to connect with each other regularly. A variety of online mothers forums and information websites can bridge the gap and ensure that Australian mothers, particularly those with young children, can connect with a support network.
