There is a wide world of parents out there in the blogosphere, and they are writing to entertain and educate readers, and to express the joys and challenges of parenting.

Reading and writing blogs is a versatile, easy and accessible way for parents to share parenting expertise and experiences. Moms and dads who blog have a way to share pictures and stories with friends, family and other parents around the world, and a lasting memory for themselves and their children.

Why Should Parents Bother Reading Blogs?

In today's modern world, it's easy to feel isolated and overwhelmed by life when we live separated from extended families and lead busy lives filled with work and parenting. Parents often read magazines specifically for parents to get tips on how to deal with discipline issues or recipe ideas, but with the explosion of bloggers writing on the internet, blogs have become a common way to share experiences as parents.

Mommybloggers and Moms Who Blog

In fact, so many moms started writing blogs that a new term was coined to describe them. Mommybloggers come in as many varieties as there are moms, but some prefer to be called simply bloggers, claiming that their motherhood is only one of many important roles in their lives. Reading blogs can be a fascinating way to take a peek into the way other people parent, which can prompt the realization that some experiences are universal and that each child is truly unique.

Become a Blogger

Writing a blog can be a source of resources in itself as friends, family, and perhaps a wider audience leaves feedback and comments. In addition, the act of writing itself can be therapeutic and creates a lasting memory to look back on when the children have grown and left home. While the blogosphere is not a replacement for real-life relationships and community, it is an interesting way to connect with other parents in many different parts of the world. Blogger and WordPress both host blogs for free.

Blogging Safely

Each blogger must decide what level of sharing they are comfortable with, but some general guidelines apply to anyone who wants to write about his or her personal experience on the internet, and especially those who want to write about their children.

  • Bloggers should never post their address or picture of their house from the street.
  • Bloggers should never write anything they wouldn't be comfortable sharing with their mom, boss, neighbor or their child's entire class at school.
  • Bloggers should never write about or post pictures of other people or their children without their consent.

Blogging can be a versatile resource for all sorts of parents. There is a blog to entertain or interest any type of parent, and if they are not, then why not start one?
